It was built on the initiative of the canons of the Saint-Remy abbey between 1730 and 1747. Like the vast castle which materialized the ducal power, the Saint-Jacques church must have had imposing dimensions.

The organ of Saint-Jacques, prestigious for its instrumental qualities, is unique because it is completely hidden by a magnificent decor designed by Emmanuel Héré.
